    You have to smile.....

As I was bimbling home tonight I passed back and forth beside a gent on what looked like a Meccano bike. It made the Major look grand and impressive. After waving each other in and out of the traffic several times he pulled up alongside me in Brixton, and with a huge grin on his face said, "Don't you just love biking....especially on a day like this?".

I wonder if many gridlocked, Tube-strike-avoiding London car drivers were fortunate enough to have someone make them smile like this today....

    He's spot on too

We have recently got a car (need one for my disabled niece) and have been taking her to Flamingo Land etc and have been sat in traffic quite a few times now and i don't like it. I'm not used to it, i don't want to be there, i hate it! It drives me crackers... Don't know how anyone could do that on a regular basis...

    Give me my bike anyday
874 Miles in one day...need a bit of a rest first!

Going to and from work always puts a smile on my face, especially when my colleagues bustle in flustered after being stuck in traffic

Must admit when ever stuck in traffic in the car I wish I was on the bike but when on the bike I don’t filter much unless its BIG gaps and stationary traffic since with the width of the Renthal Dakar bars fitted I keep thinking I’ll take someone’s wing mirrors off so don’t take the chance.

Mind you doesn’t help that in Southampton if taxi’s see a bike behind them in traffic they seem to deliberately move on or just over the white line to stop you filtering past.

I loved riding into and away from work yesterday too! ....well I love it everyday but on Tube strike days it's a special treat....one thing we all have to be aware of is that stressed out drivers will attempt even more stupid moves....saw a couple of interesting ones down the A5 into Park Lane yesterday,....

I am heartened that it is quite often different in London and it is rare that someone one doesn't shimmy over a little at least once or twice every time I am on a ride It is not guaranteed, and I don't rely on it, but it is another occasion for a wave and a smile (and I usually imagine it is a frustrated biker, ex biker, would like to be biker, Craig when it happens....).
