    Tripmaster light

The light on my tripmaster has decided to die. I have taken the nose cone off and removed the plug and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner - it is clean anyhow.

I don't remember anything that made it fail. I have taken if off and opened it up expecting to see a bulb but freaked a bit as it is full of electro gizmo gibbons - I don't understand these too well.

So guys and gals what should I try - I am ok with probing inside but don't want to do anything that will damage the unit.

I liked that orange glow I had previously!

Ah just found the thread on here - seems simple enough - didn't notice a bulb when I opened it - ah well I will open it again.

You dnt need to take it apart - the bulb hlder just pulls out - its at the lower RH side (sat on the bike), easy peasy to do even with the cone on................

I just read this and went out to look but there doesn't seem to be any bulb fitting thing anywhere - the cover is seamless all the way around. Mines on an Rd07a so perhaps this makes a difference.

    Re: Tripmaster light

Mines an 07a as well - the connector you can see in the photo below is the one you're after - it just pulls out honest! The box on top in the photo is a charge monitor and the wires for it drop down and follow the conduit that the trip meter lamp wires use so that is definately it on mine - your's might be different but it shouldn't be..........

It can be a bit of a bugger to get out as its a tight fit to keep water out I used silicone spray on mine when I pushed it back in to make it a bit easier as I left the screen and cone in place so didnt have much room - still easy enough though and definately no need to be taking the thing to bits.........

    Re: Tripmaster light

Superb cheers mate I didn't think that was a bulb holder as mine has not Bern disturbed from new and was such a flush fit I thought it was just a grommets for the wired - but as you said a bit of persuasion and out it poped blown build and all - funny little silver caped thing.

    It looks blue?

Anyhow previous threads said Halfudies is the place to get these so will get one tomorrow.

There is only one bulb yeh?

    Thanks again

    Re: Tripmaster light

Yeah just the one - I put a blue led in there, (to match the ones I put in the main clock lamps), and it looks very cool indeed I got it from ultraleds.co.uk for not much money and its a cool little mod...........

You should be able to pick up a normal bulb from Halfrauds easy enough, just a normal '5mm wedge'................

    Re: Tripmaster light

Is the LED mod a straight swap? Do you just replace the bulb for an led? Sounds like itlooks good and as I have the nose off may do clocks as well.

12v, 2 or 3 watt 5mm wedge, got mine from local bike shop £0.40p (got afew) check to see if it works before you place the bulb holder back in the unit and put everything back together. if it doesn't work when you replace, rotate the bulb 180 degrees.
